Dock permits are issued by the Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Monroe County. You can check permit status through the county's permit records and by requesting documentation from the seller.

Check with Monroe County Building Department and the Florida DEP. Every dock, boat lift, and seawall addition should have permits on file. Unpermitted structures can create liability issues and complicate your sale. I always verify dock permits during due diligence.
